I finally got a chance to try out my new sketch box easel at the beach and tried plein air painting for the first time. This is a follow up blog for the last one!
My Full Opinion on using this Master's Touch Fine Art Studio Sketch Box Easel:
I'm not going to lie...I LOVE THIS EASEL! Once I got to the beach all I had to do was prop open the legs, open the box part up, and boom it was ready to go! I put my chair out and my boyfriend set up an umbrella over my easel. I realize now I should've taken a picture of my whole set-up but I will be going to the beach again very soon so I will post it on my art facebook page in a couple of weeks.
After I was all set up, I placed my canvas into the canvas holder and slid open the drawer section of the box. I put my paints and brushes into the different compartments of the drawer! I knew that was going to be my favorite part. I even had some space to add in some snacks!
You can see the nutter butters showing through the hole in the palette haha so I felt really comfortable sitting in my beach chair and using the easel. It was easy to adjust the height to come down to where I was sitting. I placed a camera beside me and started filming a time lapse! I will link the video further down near the end of the blog.
I started painting and I had all my supplies I needed right in front of me. I had extra paint in a bag though because I brought a big variety for myself. I ended up using all the paint tubes that I had placed in my drawer and then maybe two tubes from my bag that had almost thirty! Yes I tend to over pack but at least I was prepared for anything!
I discovered that the easel did have extra space in the back to balance another palette across the beams. I also was able to place my water cup for my brushes in another compartment as well. I had my rag hanging on the edge and I felt really professional just painting away at the beach. I didn't need an extra table at all and I was really comfortable. My whole family loved watching me paint!
Overall, I am very impressed by the performance of this easel. I used it for about 6-7 hours straight! I did take a few breaks to eat and stretch but I was very determined to finish the painting before they started kicking people out of the beach. And it did it! You can watch me paint in a time lapse here:
